Another grateful moment

Peter was in need of a haircut. He was getting a bit shaggy…

so, my mom gave him a haircut. It’s not bad considered he’s so wiggly…

then a week later one of my daughters left scissors lying around after making yarn dolls, and before I noticed them, well…

See that bare patch? We assume Peter did it to himself because anyone else would have hid the evidence. I found the hair in the hallway. I don’t want to buzz him, so I’m waiting a week to see if I can fix it or if the rest of his hair will be long enough to comb over the patch. It’s not quite long enough yet, but I’m hopeful.

In trying to see the good coming from it, I have to say that I’m grateful that it was my two year old who did it so I can’t make myself mad at anyone.  He seen grandma wield scissors on his hair the week before.  I can see why he would try it himself.  I’m also happy and grateful that we don’t have family pictures to do and that it’s my son instead of my daughter…just in case I need to get the clippers out to buzz it!

Swimmy Suit

I have to post it before I forget to. My sweet 2yo son, Peter, loves to ask me for his “swimmy suit” when the kids go to play in the sprinklers. I can’t get enough of his sweet voice. One of these days he’ll be grown up, married, and have children of his own and he won’t have that same sweet voice anymore–except maybe when talking to his little ones. I’m sure there will be a hint of it there. For now I’ll just savor this memory and keep soaking in his sweetness as he continues to grow and learn. Love you my dear babe!

Marriage

My brother-in-law asked the girl he loves to marry him last night, and I was thinking a little more about what I would say to him or someone getting ready to get married–something that would make a person think, and yet desire to still make the leap of faith and do it. This thought came to my mind early this morning:

Marriage is the most exciting, challenging, and worthwhile adventure that you will ever embark upon.

I’m sure there are other great marriage quotes out there, but I was excited to be a messenger for the Spirit. I only listened and shared a bit of inspiration given to me as a gift.

After 13 years of marriage, I can testify that the quote remains truer than ever! I wouldn’t trade my marriage for the world. Marriage between a man and woman is of God, and it is worth every minute of the trials and especially the joys! If you want your marriage to last, you need to include God in your partnership. He wants your marriage to succeed too.

May you include God in your marriage and find ways to strengthen your own marriage together as you continue moving forward in this wonderful adventure we call life. If you’re not married yet, I hope you find that amazing person who treats you like a queen or a king and create your own personal adventure. You deserve it! After all, you are a child of the greatest King–your Heavenly Father!

Summer

What I love about summer…

…eating cold watermelon and watching my kids let it drip down their chins
…all the summer fruits to eat and preserve
…watching the kids run through the sprinklers
…hearing my kids’ squeals of absolute joy
…long summer nights where the sun finally goes down after nine
…watching the plants in my garden thrive
…picking raspberries from my own bushes
…making trips to the library with my kids for books to keep us occupied on really hot days
…my a/c that keeps us cool and comfortable
…day trips with my family to enjoy places outside of home
…walking in my home after being on one of those day trips and lounging around until dinner time
…learning new things with the children and not being on a schedule imposed by others
…holding hands and watching the sun set with my sweetheart
…relaxing under the stars and enjoying a quiet evening after the kids go to bed
…seeing my kids asleep after an exhaustingly fun day and know they’ll be ready for it all again tomorrow
